Mark Manson wrote the book, “The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck”. It is as though he knows that countless number of us have issues managing our problems and looking for a therapist every time. We have all agreed that our lives cannot be free of problems. We have a new coinage, problem no dey finish. Consequently, we struggle at one point or the other with our problems. Goodnews is that, we can actually live a good life and deal with our problems and that is why Mark has got our back with his book.

Firstly, he established that problems never go away, they only get replaced by other problems. You have a problem of shelter and you rent an apartment, you'd still have to deal with the problem of Iya Chukudi who will spend 3 Hours in the bathroom in your house. You have a problem of communication and you get a phone, you'd still have to deal with the problem of subscribing and recharging to be reachable.

Definitely, our problems won't end, so we need to get good at solving our problems and exchange them with better problems. At least, it is better I have an apartment and deal with Iya Chukudi (apologies to any Chukudi, It's my best Igbo name) than to sleep under the bridge or squat around.

There are just 2 things the author wants us to stop giving a fuck about.

Subtly stop giving a fuck on who's to be blamed for your problems and take responsibility:

What we do is that we spend energy complaining about our situation maybe because we want to earn people's empathy or sympathy. Definitely, these won't stop the problem. When we take responsibility of our problems, we feel empowered and we end up being in charge. We end up choosing how to feel when we take responsibility for our problems and that is how stars do.

Subtly stop giving a fuck about how painful your problems are:

Pains are threat to our stability and when they afflicts us, we regret them and immediately start nursing the pains. Failures and rejections are painful but our goals are somewhat tied to them. Most people don't get successful without failing and most people don't get opportunities without rejections. If we can sustain them because of the Long Term Goal, we triumph but if we are concerned about the brunt they've caused, getting up to one's feat tends to be more difficult. Therefore, we should check the underlining values or benefits in our pains and problems and decide if it's meaningful. If it isn't, why bother? If it is, why not sustain?.

Life is full of sufferings but sufferings will be meaningful if you choose the values you suffer for.

It's going to be a new year tomorrow, it should be a new phase in your life where you stop giving a fuck about your problems. It is said that the path to a fulfilling life is paid by embracing problems and solving those problems to move on to more meaningful problems.

Like the author, I'd emphasize;

You have limited fuck to give in life, so you must choose your fucks wisely.
