Pardon my manners! This offer is not a good way to start, but really, I heard so many people enjoy eating frog legs, especially in Vietnam.
Well, Samuel Clemens popularly known as Mark Twain (Pen Name) has said, when you wake up everyday, the first thing to do is to eat a frog.
Eat a frog is a book that teaches time management and dealing with procrastination written by Brian Tracy. I enjoyed every line of this book.
You are wondering what “the frog” is. It is your biggest and most important task for the day. So, the book suggests that you eat that frog, first thing first. Please, I think it's important adopt this. We wake up every morning refreshed, except on a bad day. That energy when channelled to your biggest task will assure you productivity for that day.
My frog for yesterday was designing a flier for my company and that granted me a very productive day (I know some of you will start asking when I learnt that. Thanks to COVID-19). My frog today is to send this newsletter! Wow! You're reading it already, I'm sure going to have a productive day. So, if you're going to learn anything at all today, please, it should be starting with the biggest, hardest, and most important task everyday.
Of course, this doesn't mean you should spend all time on it once. Get the task defined, divided and start immediately.
The temptation to clear up small things first will always surface. Just seek refuge from devil and resist that temptation. Eat that frog. Think about each tasks consequences.
All tasks can be ranked based on priority and tackled just with the ranking. Any task can pop up you know, don't be tempted, pen it down and continue.
Also, whenever you want to think, think on a paper. Ideas on paper are the real ideas.
Everyone procrastinates, that one is sure. The difference between high performers and low performers is largely determined by what they choose to procrastinate on.
Since you must procrastinate anyway, just make the decision to procrastinate on low value activities. Decide to procrastinate, outsource, delegate and eliminate those activities that don't make much of a contribution to your life in any case. Get rid of the tadpoles (small tasks) and focus on the frogs. That's the way of high-fliers!
